With a handful of different options regarding the material in which we memorialize your loved one, remembrance has never been more personal. Our team will design your memorial and create a relevant monument to remember them forever. Our talented team can not only utilize preset designs or custom designs from your selection of photos, sketches, or ideas. Our family will ensure that your loved one receives the honor they deserve.
At St. Charles Monuments, we understand how difficult and tempestuous the time immediately following the loss of a loved one can be. Selecting an upright monument can be emotionally taxing, and our goal is to help guide you through with little stress. We believe a quality headstone serves a more vital purpose than marking a grave. It should be a celebration of the life of the one we love. We don’t carve monuments at St. Charles – we carve memories. It’s our philosophy to design beautifully crafted monuments in a relaxed environment and promptly.
How long does it take to complete a headstone or upright monument?
Delivery times vary depending on various factors such as cemetery workload or weather. We carry a significant amount of inventory that is readily available. Suppose you would like a headstone crafted from any non-inventory stock. In that case, the process can take longer to complete and deliver to the cemetery or plot. In addition, custom quarry orders can take longer during the winter months.
How long should we wait to order a monument after a death?
Due to the time it takes to professionally and artfully design and make your monument, there is no need to wait. However, it is more important to our family that you have time to grieve your loved one properly. Some families proceed within weeks; for others, it can be years. It all depends on when the family is ready. Most cemeteries will have prepared the plot and ground by the time your monument is ready. Making substantial, permanent decisions like these can be challenging. More often, people choose to preplan their monuments. It allows the person to decide how they are memorialized and save their family some financial and emotional grief after passing

What type of material should the monument be made from?
Monuments are made from one of three materials: granite, marble, or bronze. St. Charles Monuments suggest granite as a monument option, as it is the most durable of the three and offers the client the most color and design options. St. Charles Monuments also offers marble, which like granite, is used for statuary. However, some cemeteries require a bronze plaque; we can guide the family through creating a bronze plaque
How can we customize our headstone?
Once you’ve selected a type of stone, color, and monument shape, the next step is to choose the stone’s inscription- do you want full dates or just a year? An epitaph or dedication? Perhaps a design? A monument can uniquely encapsulate all the memory and joy of your loved one- and its design should undoubtedly reflect that.
